found out things about people which i've never known while at rachel's house.

1. fred talks a lot. and i mean A LOT.
2. mingwei can be really childish.
3. zhizhong is scared of dogs.
4. alvin is more interested to know about a particular ex-classmate of mine than i expected.
5. rachel can be very raunchy when she wants to be.

i think we have a group of very interesting people here.

Friday, September 26, 2003 10:59 p.m

the first person i saw was yinbing, looking very conspicuous in her green tkgs uniform. cheng ping joined us shortly. had to struggle with two similar names (yinbING, cheng pING), or so it seemed to me then. we didn't have a senior class then since there wasn't a 01S69 so we had the next two hours to ourselves. the councillor in charge of us was some soft-spoken S70/S71 guy who seemed more nervous than us. he had to plead for someone to volunteer as ct rep for 5 mins before vernon ended his misery by standing. we split into two groups of 10 to discuss about our talentime item and class cheer, with the two rv girls at the side designing the class banner.
was in the group with xiao yuan, cheng ping, douglas, alvin, frederik, zhi zhong, ming wei and some other people whom i can't remember. started out by a very interesting self introduction.
xiao yuan: i'm xiao yuan, but you can call me deonn.
all: huh?
xiao yuan: deonn. D-E-O-N-N.
all: orh...

frederik: i'm frederik
cheng ping: huh?
frederik: i'm frederik
cheng ping: huh?
frederik: i'm frederik
cheng ping: huh?
frederik: are you deaf or what? i'm frederik!
snickers from alvin and zhizhong.

we were supposed to come up with ideas for talentime but it was fruitless. surprisingly ming wei was the most vocal guy in the group. he was suggesting things like running around a coconut tree as part of our item. haha. cheng ping and i started out our first day together by having erm... different opinions. how ominous. i remember xiao yuan wanted to do some indian dance thing while (i think) yinbing wanted a musical. we listed out songs we want to sing and everyone started naming all the songs in zhou jie lun's albums. didn't come up with anything in the end and went home after promising that each and every one of us will go home and diligently think of at least two ideas for the item.

we ended up dancing and singing "stand by me" without any background music. xiao yuan and i came up with the dance at the amphitheatre and it was !@#$%. think i was quite irritating during orientation by whining class, can we practise? whenever there was time. oh well.
didn't really like the class during orientation. everyday when i go home i will be like huh? i'm stuck with these people for the next two years? but things got progressively better. going for first lectures (and actually paying full attention), meeting beng beng and going to kap for class-bonding after lessons, the 21 of us (minus julia who was on mc) got closer. we mass-crashed rj on the first wednesday because we didn't have any lessons at all for the whole day. we played captain's ball as a class in the basketball court before going to lecture. that was the first day the girls started swopping uniforms. i wore yinbing's tk uniform for the whole of that day and it was so short! there was one day when ALL the girls exchanged uniforms before we turned up for clao classes with our dearest chen lao shi. i was wearing cheng ping's nanyang u. should have seen chen lao shi's face when we trooped into class late, wearing things we are not supposed to wear.
was the welfare rep for the first three months. very fun. all i had to do was to buy birthday presents. excuse to go shopping without needing to spend my own money. and guess whose birthday came up immediately after the post was allocated? mine. (of course i didn't buy my own present. julia got a big red heart-shaped cushion with wings for me) being the welfare rep i had to extend my care and concern to everybody in the class. my very first mission was to call up julia who was resting at home after her operation. it was quite awkward because i didn't know who she was. it was so obviously hypocritical because i did something stupid like start out by saying "hi, i'm fangxi, the welfare rep of the class." i can still remember julia's first question: how are the guys in the class? haha. someone was already looking for people to yang3 her even before she met the class.

don't i just miss those days?
